Hi, I'm Kevin Brutus.
I'm a Frontend-Focused Full Stack Web Developer based in the NYC Metro Area. Before transitioning into tech, I worked as a Housing Specialist, where I assessed clients' needs, connected them to critical resources, and helped improve not just their housing situations but their overall livelihoods. This work sharpened my ability to understand complex problems, stay organized, and take a proactive approach to problem-solving.
During that time, I relied on various web applications to assist clients—many of which were slow, unintuitive, or frustrating to use. Recognizing this as a barrier, I became driven to build better solutions. In 2019, I enrolled in Pursuit, an intensive software engineering fellowship, dedicating my nights and weekends to mastering full-stack development. Through this experience, I developed a strong foundation in modern web technologies and gained hands-on experience building applications that solve real-world problems.
Most recently, I worked as a Frontend Software Engineer at Sift, where I contributed to scalable, user-friendly interfaces and collaborated on tools designed to enhance workflows. Beyond my professional experience, I remain deeply connected to theater, bringing my passion for storytelling and community into my work. Whether on stage or in code, I am committed to crafting experiences that bring people together.
As I continue to grow as an engineer, my goal remains the same: to build intuitive and impactful applications that empower users and strengthen communities. I look forward to applying my skills, learning new ones, and creating technology that makes a meaningful difference.
